Medium-chain triglycerides are referred to as MCTs. Triglycerides are a form of lipid, or fat, that your body uses for two primary purposes: either they may be stored as body fat or they can be burnt for energy. The majority of fats, including those in avocado, fish, meats, and olive oil, are long-chain triglycerides. Your body takes a lot longer to break down these longer, more complicated triglycerides than it does the shorter, simpler MCTs. Because of their rapid breakdown, medium-chain triglycerides are regarded as a valuable energy source.
